Hi Everyone,
Top is in the up position and won't lower I checked the fluid level, added a smidgrle. The was able to raise it a little to see if the safety bar would release Nope The cable release moves freely when I pull it. Here are some photos I haven't had to manually release the safety bar or the cylinder. Any suggestions or thoughts? Don |
Don, I moved your thread to this subforum, because I think you'll get more responses here.
It sounds like you are able to release the safety bar, and if so, that is not holding the top up. I suppose the top could be binding on something. If you have a helper, could that person pull the safety release while you open the manual lowering valve in the tongue? There's really nothing that holds the top up except hydraulic pressure and if that valve is opened, the hydraulic pressure will be released, which should allow the top to come down. If it doesn't, then you DO have binding which will have to be corrected. - Jack |
I did open the manual lowering valve in the tongue
Nothing happened. I have been looking to see if there is something binding I will ask a friend to look. A fresh set of eyes may help. Thanks Jack |
Grease the slide bar
Don,
How long has the top been up. The slide bar seems to have a bit of rust on it. Possibly that is what is holding it up. The cylinder forces the top up but only its weight brings it down. Try a bit of penitrating oil where the sliding block rides on the bar and get some grease on that slide bar. I hope that does it for you. When it breaks loose I'll bet it will groan a bit! Fred |
Hi Fred and Jack,
The top had been up 10 days. My neighbor Bill, looked at it. It seemed it was stuck on the bar, he released it and the top came down. I couldn't see what he did, he had it done in few minutes. He also suggested using a graphite spray on the safety bar and the slide bar rather then grease. He said the graphite spray resists dirt for better lubrication. I ordered the CRC graphite spray lube and will try it. Following this to raise and lower now: https://youtu.be/4APWyR5kWkM Thanks for your help. Don |
