frame bounce pads
 

On my 1985 hi-lo most of the frame pads were missing when I purchased it.
There were/are 6 pads that absorb the impact from road irregularities, cracks, fillings, etc.

Attached are pics of what I used to replace the missing pads and I consider them to be far superior to the factory pads.

These are made of 3/4" PEX piping that is available from any Home Depot or Lowes for a very small price <$1.00

Cut to the size that works for your application. Don't be stingy, they are cheap.
Drill holes on one side of the PEX pipe to match screws/holes in the hi-lo top half(so you can get a screw driver and screw through). And drill smaller holes on the other side. You are only mounting screws through the smaller hole side of the pipe.
Re-use the same screws that were there originally.

PEX pipe is freeze proof piping that will compress/swell and then retain its original shape/thickness when pressure is released.
These are thicker than the original pads and substantially more impact resistant, thus relieving some of the road pounding that the trlr receives when rolling on paved, gravel, or rock roads.

A CHEAP AND EASY UPGRADE, and your hi-lo will love you for it!

Nice job! Another source of material to use is those "road alligators" (the retreads that the over-the-road truckers blow out on our roads). Also, possibly, an old pair of flip flop shoes cut down to size.
