Getting on Roof

My daughter and hubby just purchased a nice 1989 22' Hi-Lo Funchaser. We've spent several nights and weekends cleaning her up. I've read several threads which have been really helpful.........Thank You!!!!

The roof does not leak. We were able to use a medium brush with a long handle to get most of the roof scrubbed, washed and cleaned. We were not able to clean the Coleman A/C unit on top or really get upclose to check on all the latch covers and the seals around them.

My SIL wanted to get on the roof, but we were both unsure about the roof being able to take his 250 lb or my 220 lb weight.

I have done a pretty good search here and some say it's okay, other's say no.

If we have to get up there, what's the best way to do it? Or, just don't do it period until we have a problem. We are trying to be preventative.

Lay a piece of plywood on the roof to spread the weight out. It should be all right but putting all your weight on one foot in one spot could be a problem. 3/8 or 1/2 inch plywood will work.

Make sure the top is in the down position when you get on the roof! You do not want to mess up the cables.

We used 1/2" particle board and it worked great. Reaching the roof ac unit was hard without getting on the roof.
