Anyone know where I might get key blanks for an original HiLo Lock?

Any locksmith should have them. I'm talking about a regular locksmith, not a store that has a key making machine.

I agree with Bob, I found mine at a locksmith after going to 3 or 4 shops. He also replaced a broken lock and rekeyed the new one to match the other locks.

I got extra keys for mine made at Ace Hardware. Possibly though, your model may use a much harder to find style.

Is there any identification on the keys or lock? Letters, numbers, company names, etc. Most keys have a number/letter code on them. With that, a blank can be matched to it. If it is not a popular number the blanks probably are not stocked by many places. They cannot order a blank, it is usually a box of say 25 or 50 blanks. I would go to a good old hardware store that has kept everything over the years and they may have it. You may just want to replace the whole lockset. Most RV suppliers carry them.

Got my blanks for my 94 at the local rv dealer.

Hopefully you can find some letters,numbers so that we can help you. Hubby says he has one lock on the HiLo that has frozen up. He has to drill the old lock out and replace. I know your problem has a solution. sam

Look for a magnetic key holder underneath the wheelwell or along the frame. That's where i got my 3rd set.

I think the one key we have which is for the lock that came on the HiLo is not the original key, a copy, and it has a stamp of Brian's Lock Service. No clue where that might be as we traveled over 175 miles to get our HiLo. We do have a dead bolt on the trailer too. But would like to be able to lock both locks when we are not around during the week. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Becky

If you store the HiLo in the down position while you are away it makes it less attractive for anyone to mess with it. Do you need keys for the outdoor storage compartmens? Perhaps you can find a locksmith to help you when you travel with your HiLo. I know our HiLo dealer had a master key for all the HiLos. sam

We have camper set up with a bunch of our friends at a private lot. It would be alot of work having to rearrange the trailer every weekend to put it down all the time. Only key we need more of is the one that is in the latch of the door. I guess I will just keep looking. Because there are no dealers close that sold HiLo's to try to getr keys from.

The best bet would probably be to replace the whole lock.

Locksets are generic on RV's, find one that fits the particular setup you have. Then get a couple extra keys made.

IHave owned my HiLo for 10 yrs. Didn't learn this until recently on the HTF if my memory serves me correctly. It is a good idea to use 2x4 at each corner when the HiLo is in the up position. This relieves the tension on the lift cables. I just stained and applied three coats of Helmans Spar Urethane to four 2x4. We will probably have to cut them down a little bit. Kind of heavy in the 8ft length,weak back!! Stained them up with Minwax Early American stain and they really show the wood grain and have a nice semigloss shine. Should hold up to the weather. Easy enough to sand,tack cloth and re apply additional coats if neded down the road. sam
