Need Replacement Outrigger Pads, etc. - Hi-Lo camper travel trailer forum

We have a 1907T, and I want to replace the black rubber pads on my 4 outriggers that hold the weight of the top when it's down. But I also want to replace the multiple, gray rubber pad strips that are mounted under edge of the top, which also carry some the top's weight when it's down. Some are missing, but all are too compressed and need replacement. Any source ideas...?

I have a 2206 towlite that needed the same thing
I used 1/2 thick rubber reinforced semi truck mud flap I got from grainger.com
They where a little tough to cut , to cut 2”x2” for the lower outriggers and 1/2”x3” upper pieces it was easiest to go to a sheet metal shop and have them use there metal cutting shear since I work in shop that has one I used it
They had held up for 6 years so far with no wear

Thanks for that great suggestion. I just went on Grainger.com and found HD truck flaps in 3/8" and 1/2" thickness. They're $36-64 each. Then I realized that I regularly see truck flaps on the road, which are free for the collecting! Ha! Is the "metal shear" a hand tool like scissors, or something larger? We have no metal shop in my small town.

The metal shear looks like a big paper cutter
Designed to cut 30gauge to 16gauge sheetmetal
Any sheetmetal, heating,air conditioning business/shop will have one
Or cut them with a hacksaw (the small thin blade works well)

I took my 31C to the Spillar hitch shop here in Austin Tx to have 4 more outriggers installed, 2 in the far front and 2 more in the far rear. This way there will never be any sagging of the top shell ends on the existing outriggers which seems to be problematic with the longer HoLo's. I think ALL HiLo's need to have 8 outriggers instead of the 4 stock ones! It just makes sense......

J&R repair has those pads in stock, along with the soft plastic / vinyl caps for the outriggers. I just got new ones from them......

We were getting some sagging at the door opening on our 23C - I added an additional outrigger right behind the door (just in front of the wheels) on the curb side, and one parallel with it on the street side. Seems to have taken care of the problem - definitely seems like something HiLo should have done when they were being built.

I'm looking at dense shoe soles as a possibility, like my flip flops after they blow up. I'll post photos if/when I get it done.

Lou - I think you'll find that flip-flop soles are not dense enough for outrigger pads. They MAY seem to work, but I think one trip will destroy them. The mud flap or tire approach is a good one, because the material is reinforced internally with cords.

I made mine out of hockey pucks, which I sawed in half to reduce their thickness. They've held up well too, but look like they could be replaced now, after about six? years.

Hello Jack,

Do you have, or can you take a picture of the Hockey Puck modification you did on your HiLo for the outrigger support? It will be greatly appreciated so I can get some ideas, mine are worn out bad. Thanks.

Angel - I screwed the hokey puck pads to the outriggers - used two screws each. I have not had to replace the grey pads on the upper half. They replaced the square black pads that were on the outriggers.
