Side Storage Pods

My camper has the optional side storage pods but lately the two in the front have been opening up while travelling. This did not happen in the past but has been a frequent occurance this year. Has anyone else encountered this? If so, what did you do to remedy the situation?

Thanks!
Jeff

You need to check the screw that holds the finger onto the lock assembly first to insure that it is tight. Second, bend the "finger" on the lock assembly forward to provide a better tension fit. With the storage door open, operate the lock. When it is in the vertical position, the finger rubs against some sort of metal work to cause the door to lock. This should eliminate your problem. Also make sure the lock assembly is mounted tight onto the door by snugging the mounting nut.

You could also replace the OEM non-locking latches with ones that lock. They are standard cabinet locks you can probably find in Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware, etc. I did this and haven't had any problems.

I bought a 5 pack of the locking ones, all keyed alike, at Camping World. I believe they were about $25 or so. Make sure you take one of your old locks with you to match them up as there are various lengths.

I haven't checked that close, but they look a lot like crossover pickup toolbox locks. Might check Orschlens or Tractor Supply or whatever is in your area, I think they have lock numbers on them somewhere so you could get them all alike, maybe even the same as on the truck.

Replacing storage bin locks.

We have several lock shops in our town. That is where I got a couple of replacements. They do come in different sizes. So as mentioned take one with you.

Thanks for all the replies everyone-it is very much appreciated! :) I will start out with the easy fix first and go from there.
