What kind of roof do i have?

I'm thinking of re-sealing my roof but not sure what I should use. I know some had Aluminum, some rubber and some fiberglass. Mine's a 2001 24TD. It has been sealed before I bought it so I can't see the texture of the roof. Does anyone know what it's made out of? It may not matter since it already has been sealed before. Can I seal over the previous sealant? It appears to be a rubberized roof sealant and it is starting to dry out and crack. Thanks

2001 24TD Roof

My 2001 24TD has aluminum for the roof section. As for sealing, this will be my first time also so lets hope someone has completed this project. Bob

My 2001 has an aluminum roof. I use Kool Seal to coat and seal my roof. I find it at Lowes. Use soapy water and a stiff brush to clean the roof. NO POWERWASHER! Check the caulking at the roof seams and at the endcaps. Recaulk if necessary. Use a paint brush to brush the Kool Seal on the seams, around the vents, antenna, stack, etc. Use a paint roller for the rest of the roof. Let dry for 24 hrs and give a second coat the next day. I make this a 3day task - day 1 clean & wash roof, let dry - day 2 apply first coat of sealer -day 3 apply second coat of sealer. I do this every 2 - 3 years. It just depends on what part of the country you are in and how often you camp. There might be a better way to do this, but this is how I do it.

Roof Repair

Thank You Retired Camper,
The detailed information on the roof sealing is awesome. I have been reading different posts and some said don't use the home repair box stores products so I was confused. Your endorsement and directions will be my guide to follow.
I have just joined that retired club also so we can do more camping now. Living in Oklahoma we have great weather most of the year and Lake Eufaula is 20 miles away.

Thanks for the info. How much KoolSeal do you think I'll need for my 24'? Is it found in the paint department?

Based on the data sheet you will probably want to put on two coats and that should take at least three gallons. I know my dealer puts on two coats. I would mask off around the top of the side walls before painting. That stuff really sticks on.

Roof coating

Last summer we were camped at a state park in NY. This family pulled into the site across the way from us. Oh! my word! older trailer with a completely tared roof withy huge drips down the side. I said to hubby "I know what happened. The wife told him he had to seal the roof and he wasn't in the mood to do it so he slapped the tar on to shut her up." Never take on a roof seal job if you are tired or angry. Probably wasn't the correct product to use.

I found the Kool Seal in the roofing section at Lowes. It is the same stuff that Camping World sells for twice the price. I do my 29' with 2 gallons of the Kool Seal. On the way to the checkout counter, I stop at the paint department and have them put the cans on their "shaker" machine.

I have the same question for my 2207T Hi-Lo. Does anyone know what type of material covers this roof? I know you have to be careful when buying cleaners so one doesn't damage the roof and caulking, etc.

Also, does anyone have a recommendation as to the best way to clean the roof as far as specific cleaners and how to apply them?

It's aluminum with bonded on paint same as aluminum siding.

I have the same question for my new to me 2204T . . . rubber or aluminum?

According to the brochure, look the list of features on the back page, it is a one piece rubber roof.
https://www.hilotrailerforum.com/f52/...-2004-hi-lo-6/

The rubber roof is basically smooth, and the metal roof has a pebbly texture and rolled seams.
