Window removal and resealing.

The weather s in the 60s by the afternoon. Today we removed one window 601/2 x29 1/2. Found about eight inches of rust on the insulation and the start of delamination. Must of has a small leak from the prior owners. Used Elmers wood glue. This is why I tell everyone to remove your windows and reseal with butyl tape and put Lexel caulk on the exterior. Four more windows to go!! the weather is cooperating all week. DH is retired...busier than ever!! I think if you sent this into a shop it would cost you about $300.00 per window depending on the size. When you remove your windows you get to see the condition of your wall layers. We did all the windows on our 1990 HiLo.

Don't know why the forum made me log in again.

I am sam from Niagara Falls, NY. I am female and just use the first letters from everyone in the family. Had another productive day with another window removed and resealed. No water intrusion noted. Tomorrow it is going to rain some. Will work inside reinstalling day and night shades and curtains. Have to give the toilet flange another crack at settling in better. Will coat with silicone spray and hope it takes the rockiness out. Sunday seems like a better day to remove the last window. Less breezy.
