Does anyone travel with a full fresh water tank? I have found nothing in the literature that says yea or nay.

Thanks

You can certainly do it as long as your tongue weight or Gross Trailer Weights are not exceeded. A gallon of water weighs about 8.6#, so a 30 gallon fresh water tank and a 6 gallon hot water tank if filled add about 300# to the total trailer weight and around 150# to the tongue weight.

Jack, thanks for the information.

I do all the time and I wish the water tank was twice the size or larger. I would love to have 100 plus gallons

We never do because we always camp there’s full hookup or at least W&E. However, with our new Venture Sonic upright trailer, I’ve been toying with the idea of filling at least a 1/3 full for emergency use along the way.

my opinion - probable not a problem till an avoidance or emergency type swerve and the water sloshing back and forth will push the swing of the trailer even more and make it more uncontrollable and yes i have a bit of experience with a big cooler in a trunk and riding with a reckless driver. - 18 wheeler tanks have to have baffles to help combat problems of this sort

Unless I defiantly know that I will have water hookup, I fill my tank.

I almost always fill my tank full. Unless I know for sure that I can hook up with my hose, and only if I know how good the water is. In some campgrounds, the water is not very good. Also even though some campgrounds say they have water, it might just be a pump several sites down. I don't want to carry water. So I like to have my own water. The only time I use the campground water is to put out fires, never with my own water unless there is none available. Hope this helps. I also carry a 5-gallons of my fresh water to use outside of the trailer. To drink, wash up, etc.
