Converter

We have a 1998 28' Hi Lo. The battery is less than 6 months old, but we can't seem to keep a charge, even when plugged into shore power. Thought maybe we had a converter problem, but can't find the converter. We have looked near the battery, and near the fuse box. Any ideas?

Look near where the outside power comes into the trailer. It could be hidden away behind something, like behind the fuse panel.

Found it

It was near the fuse box -- under the oven tucked beside a drawer.

They didn't want to make it too easy. :D First thing you want to check is if there is a voltage increase at the battery when you plug into shore power. If there is, the converter is putting out. As the battery charges you should see an increase in the voltage that could go up to about 13.6 volts. If you aren't seeing any action, check the converter for fuses that guard against reverse polarity. One or both of them may be fried. Make sure you unplug from shore power and disconnect the battery when checking those.

I should have added, if the inside lights work when plugged into shore power the converter is working. Check all the connections on and around the battery and pump area to make sure they are clean and tight.
