Converter Conversion
The converter in my ELX-45 appears to have died.
I have researched all the replacements and the reviews keep mentioning cheap plastic enclosures. Since mine still has one open 120v breaker spot and 3 open 12v fuses I do not need to add any additional spots. After looking at the assembly I began to think that it might be beneficial to simply remove the converter components and install an external converter, mounted on the floor. I have removed the couch and replaced it with a real bed. Has anyone done this conversation and what are some good converters and what brands should I stay away from? |
Your converter's two 30A battery charging circuit fuses may have blown, they may be inline BEHIND the visible fuse panel as they were on my old converter. I replaced that converter with a Progressive Dynamics converter and a thread on that work is here: https://www.hilotrailerforum.com/f28...lacement-7659/ The new converter has worked flawlessly and I am very happy with the replacement.

There are no fuses back there
Both of the yellow wires from the converter go to but connectors and to the top terminal on the fuse board The black battery and the red wire from the master switch go to the bottom bat terminal Based on the wiring diagram it looks like the converter wires should be connected to the black battery wire and the red wire from the master switch should be connected to the battery terminal Connecting the black battery wire to the red master switch wire would explain why my master switch does not appear to do anything |
