In search of a generator

We have a 17 foot 2007 Hi-Lo. We are looking for a compact, portable electric generator to take on our camping trips for times when we don't have access to electricity for a few days. We would appreciate any and all recommendations regarding brands, sizes, prices that have worked well for you or recommendations regarding what to stay away from. Thank you!

There's a 2 page article/advertisement in the April issue of RV Magazine that will give you some information on what Honda has to offer. I would recommend, from my limited experience, a propane model. I have one such on my hi-lo and my son has one, portable, for his new camper. Much cleaner, etc. than a gas model.

Search generator here on the forum and there is a ton of information. This is a good link with a lot on info. Just depends on what you want the generator for.

I bought the "Champion Power Equipment 76533 4750/3800-Watt Dual Fuel RV Ready Portable Generator with Electric Start" off Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VFDJGCE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_ZT71M2WYN1B6ZN3HRSGJ?_ encoding=UTF8&psc=1). Loved it and attached it to a bumper mounted rack. It's dual fuel which meant it could run on propane or gas. I ended up running a propane split line to the back of the camper and only ever ran it on propane as it is a much cleaner and more efficient burn.

However, for me this generator turned out to be a bit too powerful for the additional weight. I never ran AC on it. Was more for microwave and such. But now I upgraded my battery system so I don't need a generator for that anymore. So now I bought the ultralight weight and portable "Champion Power Equipment 200961 2500-Watt Dual Fuel Portable Inverter Generator, Ultralight" (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08L45W2V9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_KB16SBV1WYPJEBQ3N6V0?_ encoding=UTF8&psc=1)

Man, I love it. No longer need the bumper mount as it's small enough to fit in my trunk and able to carry it with one hand (39 lbs!!!!). Don't know about AC use with this, depends on what your AC pulls. BUT it has parallel support so you can run two of these at the same time for double power.

Another option, but pricey is 3400-Watt Dual Fuel RV Ready Portable Inverter Generator with Electric Start (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FAWMMEY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_S0RZZ8DMPVDFKHH4TX82) I have not used it just due to price.

Hope this helps!
Matt
