looking for terminal block help

2 Attachment(s)
i am looking for help with the terminal bock on this hilo trailer. it is a 1984 21L Funchaser. the terminal block is beside the battery.

dans, what kind of help are you looking for? That terminal block is for the pigtail that connects to your vehicle and the wires control parking lights, brake and turn signal lights (one wire for left and one for right, electric brakes, reverse lights?, 12 volt charge wire for the battery, a ground.

I know that block is for the trailer pigtail. I am looking for a diagram as to what each connection goes to. Some of the wires on mine are loose and I want to put it back correctly.

dans - You might refer to the owner's manual for the 1983 models here: https://www.hilotrailerforum.com/f49...o-manual-6838/ It's got a wiring diagram that shows the terminal block, wire colors, and what they go to. I suspect your 1984 model was wired the same, because HiLos had very few changes from year to year.

Jack, thanks for the link, but I have my hilo owners manual and while it shows wire colors, it and your link do not show the terminal block. I will ohm out the circuits and replace the pigtail then I will have a diagram of the terminal block.

I think it does - but it's a "schematic" which may not be what you want. It's shown in Drawing B on page 14 of the link I gave you and it's in the upper left corner of that drawing. The schematic shows the output wire colors and what each goes to.

the upper left of the drawing B on page 14 shows the top of the camper. after the coiled cord that connects the two halfs together. It does not show the terminal block down by the battery. The colors in the upper left part of the drawing is the colors in the top half of the camper. this is the same as my HiLo owners manual.

My 1991 26c had the wires connecting the top half in a bundle behind the stink pipe in the bathroom. The HiLo I have now has a coiled cord outside the camper to connect the top and bottom halves.

OK, my mistake. At first glance, and maybe a lot more for me, :o it looked like the schematic in my manual that DOES show the terminal block in the battery compartment.

I guess the multimeter approach will be your only help. Sorry!

Hey, that looks exactly like my '88, wire colors and all.

I found that that half of the wires are for the driving lights, 3 are for the internal lights and power, and 2 are power and ground. I actually tossed the whole thing and got a 7-way junction box, and butt spliced the 3 inside lighting wires. But it was complicated to put together.

What colors do you need? I can tell you that Brown is Right Turn, Red is Left Turn, Yellow is backup, and Green is Marker/ Tail Lights. Howeeeeeever, there is a second Yellow wire, and it's one of the Internal Lights.

I have replaced the trailer connector to the fist four on the terminal block and found that the last two of the terminal block is internal connections. I will post the actual wires by tb number next week after I get back home.

My camper has several color changes between the coil cord and trailer wiring and trailer connector.

The terminal block beside the battery has six connections. I did not find any numbers on the block so i numbered it from front to back. (trailer tongue to Trailer body). TB1 is Right Turn and stop light. Green on the trailer connector and green on the coiled cord and brown on the upper trailer connection at the top of the coiled cord to the right light assy. TB2 Is Running lights. Brown on the trailer connector, brown on the coiled cord and green at the top of the coiled cord to the lights. TB3 Left turn and stop light. Yellow on the trailer connector, yellow on the coiled cord and red at the top of the coiled cord to the left lamp assy. TB4 is reverse lights. Red on the trailer connector, red on the coiled cord and Yellow at the top of the coiled cord to the reverse lights.
TB5 is black from fuse 4 to black on the coiled cord to black at the top of the coiled cord to the ceiling fans. TB6 is yellow from fuse 4 to yellow on the coiled cord to yellow to the ceiling lights inside the camper. the coiled cord has one more ire that is blue and does not go to the terminal block. it connect to a white wire from fuse 5 to a white wire at the top of the coiled cord that goes to the factory installed radio. i have also documented other wires in the battery compartment. for lift and brakes , grounds and 12v power. Pm me for the details.

Hello dans,
I too have a wiring issue with my 1989 hilo; I'm trying to figure out the 2 wires that are at that grounding post on the frame/body. Specifically the black wire from that grounding post that goes to the 7-way trailer connector. What are the the chances that you can take a look inside the 7-way trailer connector on your hilo and let me know in what post/position on the plug connector the black wire is connected to? There are 2 small screws on the plug that you would have to be loosen/remove in order to slide the cover off the plug a little. My particular issue is that my "Black" and "White" wires inside the 7-way plug are reversed; possibly from the factory, maybe from previous owner. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, photos of the inside of your plug wiring would be very helpful, thanks.

what i see is left screw is ground ....Right is a breaker (some are reset with a small button .some reset automatic..some just quit.....I could be wrong but i cant see where wires go..

dans 12-27-2021 08:31 AM

here is the connector on my trailer.
1. white- ground goes to black beside the CB
2. blue - Brakes goes to trailer brake wire
3. brown - tail lights goes to terminal block by the battery
4. black - 12volt plus from the vehicle battery to terminal on the CB.
5. yellow - left turn and stop lights yellow to terminal block
6. green - right turn and stop lights to terminal block
7. red - backup lights to terminal block
