Wiring for the Factory installed Radio
 

does anyone have the wire routing for the Factory radio wiring? I don't have any power coming to the radio and before I start to tear into the walls, I wanted to see if anyone knows where this is connected.

When it comes to electrically powered objects, remember Occam's Razor: The simplest reason is usually the answer. Don't go tearing out walls just yet....

So my '88 doesn't come with a music radio, but I assume it's in the top half? I would check your fuses first, then look at common fail points. The coil cord, the converter box, and the inside of the battery box. My trailer had a really weird setup where the top half wiring ran into a junction block in the battery box, causing a weak point.

dans, you haven't said how you determined that power was not reaching the radio.

Did you check the power wires at the radio for voltage? If no voltage there, what about at their source? Did you check those wires for continuity? There is often a fuse inside the radio that can blow, or sometimes an inline fuse near the radio that can do the same.

It's rare that wiring will become defective enroute (unless you have rodents, like I did), but the endpoint connections are often faulty - you should not have to tear into anything to check those.

There's one more possibility - the radio itself is dead. You could try powering it from a car battery to see if this is the case. I had this happen once with a cracked solder joint on a circuit board.

I found a broken wire at the end of the coiled cord after I removed the plate that the coiled cord goes through at the top of the trailer. I checked for voltage at the radio with a multimeter and no voltage was there. After I repaired the broken wire the radio works correctly.

The power from fuse 5 is a white wire to the bottom of the coiled cord where it connects to a blue wire in the coiled cord and then connects to a white wire at the top of the coiled cord then to the radio.
