4" Furnace Duct Replacemant

I need to replace my old clear plastic vent ducts on my '84 as they are trashed. I'd like to replace it with something more durable. Any ideas on upgrades? I'm thinking about metal vent dryer hose where it needs to be flexible and rigid metal under the sofa. It could work?

I would use rigid metal duct where there's storage access (under dinette bench or under sofa) so when the areas get packed the duct doesn't get crunched. The rest of duct I would use alumium coated plastic, wire embedded ,high temperture dryer duct. I wouldn't use vinyl duct (because of the temperture of the air from the furnace. You could also use what's called "alum-flex" , all alumium flexible duct. Make sure the seams/laps are going the same way as air flow so you don't have an air restriction. Use alumium tape on the joints and not duct tape.

When I had to replace my heat ducts, due to a tire blowout, I used the "tinfoil" type flexible ducts. It is made for clothes dryers, so it can handle the heat from a furnace. I got it at Home Depot and I think it was 20 feet in the box.
