New AC unit has been installed by repair guy and tested and approved by Me. :D Cools within 15 seconds of engagement.

He even fixed to upper dutch door where people have grabbed it to pull it closed at no extra cost.

Hauled off the old one for scrap and only got $9.00 for scrap and had to show proof of replacement.

We might call on him in the future to other work as needed.

Pinn, I think I can say we are all glad the A/C was successfully installed, after all the ribbing we bestowed upon you.:)

;) It was fun to see.
The guy carried the new unit up a ladder on his shoulder.

MY ac unit froze on me also. After inspecting it I found the fan that moved air across the condenser fins had broke and wasnt spinning as fast as the fan motor shaft. Rust had expanded the plastic fan case on the shaft of the motor and it was just sliding and not effectively cooling the condenser. I couldnt find another fan assembly so I fixed what I had. Still works after 2 years.

Our ac is shutting off and coming back on. The compressor sounds like it needs more power. The plugin and cord is getting hot. When compressor pulls down & stops the fan speeds up. Any ideas what's wrong with it?

It sounds like you are not hooked up to 30 amp service. If you are using an adapter to run from 20 amp service this can happen. If you are connected to the right service, it could be a bad plug or receptacle to the trailer or the one to the AC unit. Of course it could be something else, but this is where to start. An extension cord to the trailer that is not heavy enough or too long will do this too.
Dirt on the fins both inside and out will cause it to freeze up and not work right. as will a dirty filter.
More information will help.

Charlie, I hadn't thought about connecting to 20A service, but you are so right! Judy, very few "home" outlets will power the A/C in the HiLo.

And, what Charlie said about dirt buildup and an unsuitable extension cord will cause problems too.

I put 2 30 amp outlets on my house when we moved in 7 years ago (It doesn't seem that long). I have a Dew Drop Inn set up in the back yard for guests and I wanted to be prepared for friends with RV's that stop to visit.
I tried running the AC on my Coachmen when I first got it using a small extension cord just to test it. the cord got hot and it melted the plug in a matter of minutes though the AC did work. I am sure it would not have for much longer.

If we decide to sell our 1997 Hi Lo we will let you know.
