Default water heater malfunction

Hi, I have an atwater water heater in my hi lo. When operating on gas, it is lighting but then just turning off, failing to heat the water in the tank.

I used compressed air to blow out the tube that is in the heater and it stayed lit a little longer and then just turned off again way too soon.

I know I saw something about this problem on this forum, but cannot locate
that thread. Any help out there?

thanks,
Dennis

Default Water heater trouble shooting

Google atwood water heater with your model #. They should be able to give you advice. I know you may have to adjust some parts and then the problem will be solved. Most companies have good tech support.

My Atwood Water Heater has two sensors that have to have contact with the tank, otherwise it will not ignite. My contacts are on a flexible material that sticks to the metal cover of the water tank and on mine unit they are somewhat below the pressure relief valve on the tank. Wish I could provide pictures but I just put my unit away today and is not accessible.
