Buffalo Bill State Park, Wyoming

Traveled to Buffalo Bill State Park, Wyoming from Columbia, Missouri going through Iowa, Nebraska, and the high plains of Colorado. We loved the town of Cody, Wyoming. Buffalo Bill State Park is in a valley surrounded by majestic mountains, wide open sky, and the Shoshone river. It is about 40 miles east of Yellowstone national park where we spent a lot of time driving through seeing bison, elk, and antelope right outside our window. The only drawback to our trip was the wind in Wyoming. I learned not to put anything down if I expected it to stay in place. We also passed through the Wind River Mountains, which were just awesome. Did this 2500 mile round trip in a 2005 Nissan Xterra (with 99,000 miles by the way), towing a 2008 22T Towlite. Had absolutely no issues with this rig the entire trip. Have the kayaks on top and the Swagman bike carrier on the rear of the Hilo. Great times...

sure don't look like anything you'll see in the deep south.

It is one of my favorite areas to travel to. The Big Horn Mountains are understated and remote and I love them. Was out there two years ago for the opening of the Heart Mountain Interpretive Center between Cody and Powell. In fact, It was looking at a neighbors trailer in a NFC in the Big Horns that got me interested in a TT. Likewise, It was seeing a full size RV immediately after a strong gust had tipped it over on a highway outside Cody, with the ambulances screaming down the highway- that got me interested in a Hi-Lo. You are in the right rig for the winds out there. Have a safe trip and keep that BEAR SPRAY handy.;)

Great pictures , I Know what you are saying about the wind, when we were there my wife called the place Windoming . But very beautiful.
My wife and I travel with Kayaks like you , and by chance one is red the other is yellow like your set up. Thanks for sharing. |
I found the people of Cody to be some of the nicest around. We spent 25 years in a timeshare in Jackson and they are not nearly as friendly. I worked with a woman from Cheyenne, Every time we had microburst winds that tore up trees she would say "Wasn't the weather nice last night?"
