First trip
 

I just booked our first trip a fast overnight trip to a local lake and event...Scared, nervous and excited.

Don't be scared! or nervous.

I use the "LIST" for up and down procedures, and it takes the memory out of the equation.
Do good preventative maintenance(PM) for trlr issues. Greased guide bar, fill pump to acceptable level, GOOD battery, tires to 50lbs PSI(cold).
Take extra fuses, a couple of hose clamps, and minor hand tools.

It's easy after the first day. By then you have remembered what you forgot!

Get to know your trlr. Become friends.

Everything is fixable!

Let us know how it all worked out.

Now go out and have some FUN.

I recommend having your towing vehicle attached the day before your trip, check and make sure all your lighting in your trailer is in working order and tires are pressured accordingly.
One time we were taking a trip and I hooked the trailer on the day of the trip, when checking the tail lights and brake lights, I discovered non of the brake lights were working, spent 2 hours and could not isolate it, took the trip anyway with no brake lights, it turns out that the brake light harness by the brake pedal was shorted from A/C condensation not venting to the outside of the towing vehicle.

WE made it back...safe, sound and all in one piece. :D

We learned never try to park on an incline in the rain. ;) We got stuck. Another camper in the group we were meeting up with was nice enough to pull us out before we got to far into that space. We picked another spot to park in, it was all graveled in, not like the other spot

Figured out two out of the three major systems without anyone getting hurt. :p The gas system wasn't hard at all...nice to have heat when you are soaked to the skin with all the rain we had. The Fridge was easy peasy when you have a good connection to power. Didn't have a good one at the house before we left.. I found out why when we got back home. The plug was slightly unplugged. :eek:

Also had several people interested in looking at our Hilo aka Lucy and maybe looking into getting one of their own sometime down the road.

Glad it worked out. This is just the beginning.....:)

First camping trip
 

We also got stuck with our Heavy Duty F250 4x4 in a muddy campsite. We had to call AAA to get winched out. DH kept saying he wasn't sure of the site. The state finally approved a massive amt. of gravel for the sites. This happened several years ago. This was also the campout where the bottom door fell off the HiLo. DH was able to fix it while we were out. Every time we camped here again the office staff remembered us getting stuck. We were to polite to request another site. Thankfully we have never repeated this mistake again. The guys where DH worked thought we had a great weekend four wheeling because the truck was such a muddy mess!!

I was debating calling AAA when someone came up with a tow rope.

Pinn, just one more item on a long, long list of things to remember to bring.....
