DW and I went to Rock Island state park on 4-15 till 4/18 of 2010, the weather was perfect, the evenings were a tiny bit cool and the lows at night were in the low 40's. Course we were all toasty warm in the Hi-Lo

Rock Island is a small lovely park in a small town that grew up around a short lived cotton mill. It's a great park for a weekend trip. About the only nearby site to see other then the park is the "Cumberland Caverns", which is a huge cave that is privately owned and offers a guided tour that lasts around 1.5 hours. The park doesn’t have much to do other than a few trails and some beautiful waterfalls. A great place to relax. It's hard to tell from the second picture, but most of the sites have a picnic table area setup behind the camper. They have a seperate area for tent camping.

The park does take reservations, they tend to fill up during the camping season. They have 30 and 50 amp paved sites with water hookups, no sewer hookups, one dump station. TV reception via an antenna is all but impossible, so plan on bringing a good book. The kids will make friends quickly and the playground is nice with covered seating if you need to keep an eye on the little ones.

There's a Dollar General store about 10 minutes away that has a decent grocery selection, but no meat. Closest large grocery (with meat) is about 20-25 minutes.
