busted bathroom door
 

When I set up last weekend I realized after raising the top that one of the bathroom door panels had. literally, come apart at the seams. Duct tape got me through the weekend and then a buddy took it home to his wood shop and re-glued the thing where it had come apart at the corners- and added L brackets all around for good measure. He also brought over a little "glider" to attach at the bottom which would have slid along the floor while offering support for the weight of the door ---but it was too short. I may try to find one larger, however, to tack on the bottom as it seems like a good idea. Anyone else run into this? It does seems like a lot of weight supported by just the hinges and framing while bouncing down the road.

Also- I DID it. i went in to get a few items out of the wardrobe then went to lower the top. It kept getting stuck half way down. Went out and looked around and nothing was blocking it on the outside-----and had just come to the conclusion I had something jammed or broken on the cables(clearly it was jamming on rear burb side) when I noticed that---I had left the wardrobe top open. Fortunately no busted wardrobe door and no holes in the ceiling. I suppose it won't be the last time........:o

We also had a bathroom door come apart on our trip to Alaska. Also re-glued and put L brackets at all four corners on both doors. To support the weight of the door when traveling, on each door I screwed a eyelet into the wall frame below the snap strap and another eyelet into the end of the door that so that this eyelet sets on top of the wall eyelet when the doors are closed and drop a screw thru both eyelets which locks the doors closed. Have put about 7500 miles since this fix and no more problems.

I noticed on the check list provided in earlier Post that securing the bathroom door before traveling was an item. I don't think I had done that so the door swinging all over the place while on the road probably didnt help. Hadnt thought about it much before this. Im going to try the slider solution first but I also like your's as well and will keep it on tap as backup. I'll post it if it if the slider works.

Please add my name to the list of those that have lowered the top of the wardrobe open. Ouch! Had to repair the hinges as I remember.
Have also had a door to come apart but I don't think it was a bathroom door. Seems that it was one of the upper cabinet doors. Not a hard fix just some glue and clamps did the trick.
