On our recent trip, one of the things I learned is that I need to be careful when getting up off the expand-a-room sofa as I knocked my head a couple of times on the wood framing. Am I the only one to do this? If not, has anyone come up with a way to soften the blow? Should I wear a bicycle helmet? :o

Greg, is there room on the wood framing to staple a piece of carpet? Our HiLo has this solution factory installed at the top of the entrance door, and after softly bumping my head on it a couple times, I liked it so much that I put a piece of carpeting on the top of the door frame into our storage shed.

It makes all the difference when you have thinning hair like me. ;)

Thanks for the suggestion, Jack! I've been sidetracked lately with (never-ending) home projects so am getting back to the camper soon. :)

After banging my head a couple more times, it finally knocked some sense into me to do something about the problem. I liked Jack's suggestion to staple some carpet on the wood framing but since I didn't have any, I instead stapled some thin, black pipe insulation as a temporary measure. It's not real pretty but does the job for now, I intend to re-do it with carpet when I get a chance.

Don't sit on the sofa!:D

We'eve got two over head cabinets in the front of the trailer on each side- and the one on curb side has about done me in on the corner a couple of times. The ones over the dinette are not an issue because I am never in a position to be coming up under them ---but the one by the door in front is deadly. I've got to find something to mold on the corner----and I think closed cell foam may be the answer. But, as with the pipe stuff- ugly!

I'm 6'6" and crack my head on everything in the trailer!

In the '88 I had, there were padded panels on the exposed ends of the cabinets that cushioned the blows to the head. They were thin plywood a little bigger than the cabinet end with thin foam rubber wrapped around them and covered with upholstery material. They just screwed on from inside the cabinet. If your trailer doesnt have these you may consider making some as it is an easy project and doesnt distract from the look of the trailer.

Thanks Jon. I dont have those- just the one over the door. Its a good consideration and sounds do-able, though I have my trailer more or less parked away off-site for the winter - until I get it out:) I'll be headed to Texas in the spring so it might be a good project to work on when I get there.
