huda thunk!

While just checking over my unit, I spied the range vent and thought how little venting there was while using the exhaust vent. That's when I saw two little levers, one on each side of the vent cover. Hummmm, I though, I'll try them. Went inside turned on the vent, (low exhaust rate), went outside and rotated those levers and --- Blast-- what an exhaust rate! went inside and low and behold ! it works great.
Question, am I the only one who didn't know about these?Attachment 4748

That is something I always forget to open or close. I usually have to take the awning rod and flip the levers after everything is all set up.

Seriously, I've read everything about ALL the equipment and must have missed that. DSO will be happy. Makes sense about keeping that flap closed. Wonder what else I can find.

Hi Treeclimber,

I remember the previous owner of my trailer telling me about those vent latches. He told me keep them secured unless you actually have the exhaust fan running because if you don't, the flap will beat back and forth every time the wind blows or even when you walk inside the trailer. It doesn't take much to move it and the noise is quite annoying! I keep a small step ladder outside under the vent area while camping to open and close it as needed.

I discovered those this summer when I had to remove that vent. THAT is where I was getting water in----and it came down the wall and around the window and damaged the wall between the window and the rest of the upper part of the trailer. I would consider pulling those screws and checking to see if you have any water damage up there. Then seal it good when you re-attach.
