Wheel Bearings

The owners manual suggests that we should Pack the Wheel bearings every 6000 miles or every 12 months.

The Dexter manual that includes this procedure and more can be found in our library at dexter-operation-maintenance-service-manual

If you need a bit of motavation to do this "greasy" job then you should read this post from Sam Shields. Do as I say not as I do

I was wondering and thought I would ask, I have bearing buddies on my boat trailer to keep grease in the bearings is anyone familiar with this and would it work on a camper?

Dexter makes EZ lube hubs on their axles and some later Hilos have them. Quite frankly I prefer to have standard hubs and have to repack them every so often. The bearings need to be inspected occasionally and by having the EZ lube or bearing buddy gizmos can put off this necessary operation and possibly allow a bad bearing along a busy highway. If the EZ lube aren't lubed correctly grease can be forced past the rear seal and get on the brakes. That is cause for new brake linings.

Repacking wheel bearings

I agree, their is something to be said about time tested methods. Old fashioned visual inspection and new grease is good and never goes out of style.
