Default Any Axle Lift Suggestions?

Looking into raising our 1998 22L and need some suggestions. Trailer is great on paved surfaces but can be a little tricky on back roads with the limited ground clearance. 2 to 3 inch lift would be great.

Thanks!

You SHOULD be able to raise it that much. I raised mine 2" by having a spacer welded into the frame between it and the axle that lifted it 1-1/2" and then I was able to mount larger tires that added another 1/2". I talk about it in this thread: https://www.hilotrailerforum.com/f19...12/index2.html, starting in Post #24. (I also had the axle moved forward about 3" as I recall, because it was originally too far back. My axle is the torsion bar type, but a similar mod could be done if yours has leaf springs.

A few other members have also added spacers to raise their trailers too, and I don't recall anyone reporting adverse effects.

Thanks Jack,

Mine doesn't have the leaf springs. Recently purchased, so I am still discovering the nooks and crannies. It appears they sell the bolt on axle lift kits online, maybe someone has had some experience with those.

Happy Trails!

Looking forward to your report. I lifted my 1989 FunLite 19 footer for Baja travels and it worked great. Just bought a 2511H this year and I’d like to do a lift on it for future Baja traveling. Please post links on who sells the kits!

Default Axle Spacers

I had the same problem with the pop up I had before. After doing a search on the inter web for Dexter Axle Lift Kit, i found a bolt on kit that raised it up 2 or 3”. If memory serves me, it was around $80. All you have to do is jack the vehicle up and secure, unbolt axle, install the spacer and install with new bolts included. This is a Dexter part.

I hope this helps.

Please keep us all informed what you find out and how it works out if you decide to install them on your HiLo.
