Hey all!
I am just wondering if anyone knows anything about the brakes on a 1968 snyder hi-lo? I can't seem to find any info on them and would like to look up how to work on them. I don't much about about brakes but I am pretty good at following directions!

Kadin, try youtube videos and compare your brakes with something close to yours. Brakes don't really change too much. Just know if you have electric or hydraulic surge brakes.

I would think about putting all new electric brakes on it. There should be a standard size flange on the housing they bolt to, then add all new brakes and drums in the bolt pattern of the wheel. Even a complete new axle or 2 with new brakes installed isn't as expensive as you might think, maybe $300 each depending on rating. Seems I bought two new 3500# axles, one with brakes, one without, and 4 new wheels and 4 tires from a place in Missoula for my pontoon boat trailer for under $800 although 8 years ago now.

Bit of a shame, but I just replaced all four brake assemblies because ONE set of shoes were totally gone and I didn't want to chance it so purchased a complete set through etrailer. Great price too!

etrailer's where I go for my brake assemblies too. My only concern for Kadin is that he's possibly not going to find brake assemblies for his current axles. Haven't we had a member who had a difficult time with this task for a similar model year trailer?

And, there seemed to be an issue with upgrading the axles too. Does anyone recall this and know if it got resolved?

Jack - that would be my concern too - ‘68 is right on the edge of standardizing becoming well...standard.

But Kadin could remove a drum and measure the bolt pattern for the hub mount and he’d have something to go on. I don’t know what current mount pattern size is, but you could measure one at the local supply house/RV shop.

I upgraded a late-70’s trailer from hydraulic surge to electric - Tractor Supply had pretty much everything, and the new hubs bolted right up - same pattern. Granted that’s ten years newer than Kadin’s trailer...

Kadin may get lucky - so long as the hub mount pattern is the same it should work fine.

Thanks so much for the help so far you guys! It is freezing cold here in Montana right now and I don't have a shop so I haven't gone ahead with this yet. I'll keep you all updated once I can get out there are work on it.
