Door area sag - worth addressing?
 

Hi All,

I could use a couple of thoughts on this. I spent a few years rebuilding our 2000 24 footer, including roof and seals and etc. There's a thread around here somewhere with those pics and process.

I pulled the awning as part of that rebuild, and because of the roof rebuild, elected not to put it back on. It's made a center 'sag' over the door area more pronounced looking and sometimes that bothers me. As I understand it, this isn't an unheard of problem for these trailers. To be clear, this isn't the result of new water damage, it may have been made worse by prior damage though.

Any thoughts on whether I should try and strengthen the area above the entrance door a bit? Maybe a bit of "L" girder on the inside that attaches to the metal frame in the upper half where roof sections meet wall sections? Or just carry on and live with it?

If it was me I would do it right and reinforce it and do it right. I noticed some sag at across the door opening on our 2307C some time ago - with no indication of leakage, I'm reluctant to open up the wall to try to reinforce it, but I did want to keep the problem from getting worse, so I added a 3rd support outrigger just aft of the door opening.

It may be wishful thinking on my part, but I think the sag is getting better over time due to the added support on the curb side pushing up on the bottom of the top section when the top is lowered.....

Good thoughts on that - I'm reluctant to open it up kind of like you said. the 2000 doesn't have outriggers ... but ... I've thought about how that would surely help. Thanks!
