Extra Battery Mount - Hi-Lo camper travel trailer forum

Well it's not really an extra battery in my case but I just wanted to mount a larger Group 27 battery that wouldn't fit inside the tongue box. So after a little brainstorming I realized this was the quickest safest and most secure method. I was gonna mount it inside under the bed but didn't want to deal with a sealed box and having to vent it etc. So here it is, just some simple 1"x1" angle I had laying around. Welded a couple supports to the existing frame and filled in the rest. The box is bolted to the new brace and the strap is in addition. The box allows up to a Group 31 battery and has a little divider to locate depending on the size of battery. I also had to notch the lower half of plastic box of factory battery and pump to enable the wire to pass through and lid to still close properly. A guy could easily add another box like this on the other side to have 3 total batteries.

The plywood you can see above it is a minor mod I did many years ago to haul firewood easily and conveniently. It's simply some some 2x4 blocks attached to the tongue frame and just a couple bolts from plywood down into 2x4's. I load up the firewood about 3' high and the 4' long and ratchet strap it all down nice and solid.

The battery I used is a Group 27 with 105Ah
The box has a latching lid and purchased from Oreilly's Auto

Cool set-up with extra parts! Are you running 2 group 27 12volt batteries
I could not see how the WDH bars/ brackets would work with the battery located in that spot. Are you using a WDH set-up, I see the anti-sway bar ball mount under the propane tanks on the frame. Just by the pictures you posted, looks like a towlite from the latering part of the 90's. I had a 97 towlite for a while.

Clever idea! But, my WDH would not work with this either.
