Hi-Lo Lifting Problem

We recently purchased a 2003, model 2023 in excellent condition. I've just got it out of storage to get it ready for camping soon. I've encountered a problem that I hope you can help with.

I think the safety latch snapped into position when the top reached it's full height, but it will bleed down slowly. Any ideas on what might be wrong? The owner's manual doesn't address this. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated! Thanks

If you're talking about the Safety Bar, that keeps the top from coming down on you when you're inside if hydraulic pressure is lost, then having the top settle on it if the top is in the up position for a long time is fairly common. The weight of the top will bind on the bar and make it hard/impossible to release it when you want to lower the top.

However, the solution is simple - just hit the UP switch to lift the top off the bar, then pull the safety bar release lanyard and hold it out while you press DOWN. Once the top has moved a few inches past the bar, you can let go of the release lanyard and continue to lower the top.

Sometimes, dirt or other debris can build up in the lowering valve preventing it from closing completely. This will allow hydraulic pressure to bleed off fairly fast. The valve will be cleaned with repeated raising and lowering.

Add this procedure to your preventative maintenance.
