Hilo locked in up position, can't get to go down

Ok,
This is a first for me. I moved the camper about 8' while it was up about 18" so it would on level asphalt. I put it up (yes it was cold out) with lots of popping, now
I can't get the release pull cable to pull out and get it lowered. Tried shifting it back and forth 10-12 " but no luck.

It may have "settled" on the safety bar, which jams it and keeps you from releasing it by pulling the cable. Try LIFTING it, and then, while it is lifted off the bar, pull the release cable. If you can get the bar released, lower the top past the bar before you let go of the release cable.

Ok, tried raising it. Pull cable is still stuck 1" so out, but will not budge. Tried lower it as suggested but there's no squeak noise of any type. Cable will not budge to release down. Is there a manual release? to unstick the safety bar?

By the way, this is Dallas

Dallas, do you hear the lift motor running when you try to lift the top off the safety bar?

From your description, it's just the weight of the top that is holding the safety bar in place and once you relieve that pressure, the bar should release. You need to pull the cable WHILE you are lifting the top, by the way, then HOLD the cable out as you transition to lowering the top.

No, there is NO manual release. You are going to have to get the top off the bar some way. If the motor is not running, perhaps you need to charge the battery. It takes a well-charged battery to run the motor and shore power will not supply enough power to run the motor on its own.

If the top has been "jammed" perhaps you could raise it with farm jacks at each corner.

Jack,
I want to thank you for all the help. I worked out great. First I thought my batteries were fully charged. They were not and after fully charging them- bingo I was able to go up just a hair and pull the cable. Bad part was I'm trying to sell it and a guy came
by when it was stuck. Told him I would be it fixed, but think he lost interest. Oh well.
Thanks again.

Good! Glad you solved the problem. Don't lose hope - there is always a market for used HiLos and I'm sure you'll get it sold.

raise it up to what you can and then go underneath and on the passenger side you will see the flat bar just above the front axel. Raise up on it and hold it and let somebody else lower it. I have had the cable not work for me and that is what I did. To be safe maybe use a bar top lift and hold. Just keep hands free from where it latches in . not sure after get it down how to fix the cable as ours is ion total recondition and he is to fix the problem why it did not work .

While you're under there you need to check, clean, and grease the guide rod. It can cause a lot of problems if not maintained.

ok not sure if it is the same problem I had on our 2008 2808C our cable would not pull at all so I looked underneath and the cable runs thru a plastic tub and I squirted WD40 into that with a long nozzle and fixed the problem.
