Lights in main area not working
 

All our lights in living/kitchen won’t work. Bathroom lights, outlets, AC, water heater and fridge all work. We changed the fuse for that area and still not working. Any ideas?

The lights are powered by 12V DC, and that system is protected by a fuse. The A/C and outlets are powered by 120V AC power (shore power) which is protected by circuit breakers and I suspect you are powering the fridge and water heater through shore power too. If you have bathroom lights, they are on a separate 12V DC, fuse-protected circuit. There are two fuses in my converter that control power to the interior lighting. Have you checked BOTH of them? If they are both good, then you simply have a break in the wiring to to non-operating lights. This could be a faulty ground or a rodent-chewed wire. It will take some trouble-shooting to find.

We do have two fuses that control the lights. Since we know the bathroom lights are working we tried that fuse in the one that controls all the other lights and we also tried a new fuse but they still won’t work so suspect it must be in the wiring. Thanks

What year is your HiLo? Classic or Towlite?

It is a 2002 Hi-lo Silver 24D

No Lights in main cabin
 

We lost our lights in our 1990 25ft. Classic. I called our HiLo dealer for advice. DH taped off the converter and brought the wire on the inside of the upper cabinet. Small hole. Then he connected the wire to what is in the cabinet. Lift up the bottom and you will see wires. Lots of wires are behind the paneling and you would tear it up trying to get at the wire. DH found some pretty aqua wire that matched the interior. This wire was purchased at auto zone.Years later we ripped walls apart and found a broken rotted wire. Left enough slack in the wire so it doesn't interfere with raising and lowering. I hope this helps you.

The first thing I would try is look in your kitchen cabinets at the ceiling on both sides and see if you have a wire that looks like it is just screwed into the paneling or ceiling trim. Loosen and then tighten that screw and see if your lights work, if not then more troubleshooting needs to be done with a length of wire. Take the lens from one light that works and one that doesn't work, turn all the lights on that don't work, touch one end of the wire to the ground on the working light (the outside of the bulb is the ground) and the other end to the non working light and see if the lights come on. If they do you have a grounding problem, if not you probably have a power problem. If I was a betting man I would bet you have a grounding problem above your kitchen cabinets. Check wire nuts above cabinets. Don't worry about getting shocked, you're dealing with 12 volts not 120.

PS I had the same issue and it was the grounding screw on the door side above the cabinets.
