Hi All, we just bought a 2005 22T. We want to remove the bed that is on top of the sofa, since we we don't plan on using it and it is just extra weight. Would like to remove the bed and the bottom hard plywood and replace it with something light and thinking of using it as a storage space for comforters, pillows etc. Wondering if anybody has done this before, would appreciate any ideas/suggestions. Thanks.

My 22td has dinette which drops down and turns into sleeping area/bed...Overhead is a drop down bunk about full size bed...We removed it and put dinette top in down position...and cushions on...Basicly king size Bed that stays a Bed...

Then found 5gal plastic buckets that fit perfect (can slide in & out )under Dinette Like 9 +...supports dinette top and 9 buckets of storage.

Plan this winter to put a 2 person dinette booth across from K sink and stove..Which is a long seating area /Bed now.. The dinette wil have drop down table top to make into a 1 person bunk..THats the plan right now...

uma, the weight of the upper bunk is little. If you do remove it completely, store it for resale because it's valuable. On our 24'er, we removed the thin mattress and used the bunk for storage, blankets spare linen, even outdoor cooking tools. Hiding things as a security measure. You need only lower the front to gain access.

Got all brackets and frame in Garage and mattress under bed in house...In case I wana go back with it or sell......Tree got good points a usually....I just needed head room..and its only ME and MRS...

Hi Tree, that's good idea, To keep the frame as it is and using it for storage and saving the bed. BTW, we were in SWFL in July for about 10 days, our first time. It is beautiful !

Thank you cva34, same case here, just the two of us for now. The drop down bed is really only for small kids I think. Doesn't feel comfortable for adults, I feel.

I read on this forum, that someone had put a cargo net under the bed, which is good idea. But as suggested here, we will remove the bed and put a cargo net which will great for storage !

We are tight on weight so we're removing our bunk bed too. It totals 80lb. It took 3 men to wrestle it out of its moorings. The wife and have yet to wrestle it out the camper door. If the temp in AL ever drops below 100 again, we will complete the task.

Hi wdsniderman, we were also thinking of removing the whole contraption, but thought about resale value. Didn't know it was that difficult to remove, on the flip side, it states how well the hi lo trailers are made !.

Easy removal maybe Better part of hour...Totally by myself...Down and out and stored with all parts..Fitting out door by myself without help without damaging anything was only challenge....DAN

I have a 24' Hi-Lo Towlite. I had a king-sized bed in the front of the Hi-Lo on top of heavy plywood. The inverter was under the bed as well as two long benches, a flip-up table, storage and fuses etc. I did not really want to get rid of that huge bed but decided I really would rather have the storage so out it went . The plywood was very heavy. I also have a 100 lb. bunk bed above that swings down. Still trying to figure out the sleeping arrangement.

Update: Once we slid the couch bed in, the bunk stood on its side and went right out the door. No problem. We'll re-install it when we get ready to sell. Getting it loosened and disconnected was the only difficult part. Didn't want it to fall uncontrolled. For the cables in front, do not cut them. Remove the brackets from the wall instead.

Hey everyone! Just bought a 2001 24TD in pretty good shape. But previous owner removed the bunk bed. I reinstalled it but can not for the life of me figure out where the cables attach to the wall or ceiling. There are no previous holes exposed like the rest of the bed. Can someone send me a picture of it and where it goes?
