Trunk storage

The storage as you know is poor at the rear bumper. I designed and built deeper storage boxes after removing the plywood and the metal mounting tabs.Since the new boxes don't hang below my stabilizers, I don't have a problem with them scraping.

what did you make the box out of?

Great looking job, Any provision to keep water out? I ask this because the wood bottom in my 2209 is rotting out already.

On the 95 the box was much bigger and the bottom rotted out, was a tight fit and would fill with water. I removed the lid and hinge, put a 45 degree angle on the edge at the trailer then reinstalled the lid. This kept the water out of the back side also put a strip of weather stripping around the edge. Took a exterior piece of flak board and coated it with roofing tar 2 coats top and bottom also left a small crack at each end, in case water got in, worked great.
Haven't thought what to do with the 2209, I like Les's job, but have no way to bend metal, so that is out. To busy right now to do anything, but thinking. |
Speaking of trunks remind me of this
