Default What would you do with this hairline crack?

There's a hairline crack, only about an inch long, originating at one of the hinges on the front window awning. I think it's only in the gelcoat, but am not sure at this time. Since it originates at the hinge, it could have developed from the drilling and bolting operation and may be deeper, or under strain. I've thought about flexing it a bit in order to widen it and get some glue into the crack, but am afraid that flexing could lead to a worse crack.

What would you suggest as a repair to prevent further cracking and to clean up the looks of this hairline crack?

Thanks

Mine was cracked through. I opened the crack pit some universal pvc glue in the crack and held it together after the glue was set I reinforced the back side with a scrap of pvc and more glue. Still holding.

Default Hairline Crack

My crack was on the lower edge of the cover. I got some fiberglass cloth and Bondo-Glass to strengthen the backside the cover. Both are available at Walmart.

Originally I used fiberglass cloth on the back side, but had to also use it on the front side. I had to feather out the front side, but the repair is not invisible.

Default crack

I just drill a 1/8" hole at the end of the crack and it stopped it.
