Interesting, Ruben. I had the same problem with the glass in my upper door and fixed it myself too, probably at least 15 years ago. I THINK I used plastic in the repair and realized later I could have done it a better way, but it's held up just fine. My recent drive over the VERY rough 40 mile dirt Cottonwood Canyon Road in Utah certainly put it to the test.
