Leak in hydraulics - Hi-Lo camper travel trailer forum

My 1977hi-lo is leaking fluid under the camper. How would I go about fixing this? Help

Welcome to the forum. Can you see where abouts it's leaking from? Could be the reservoir, a line, or the cylinder. I'm guessin' it's probably the cylinder. You'll probably have to remove it and take it to a hydraulic shop and have it resealed.

Haven't wiped it down yet. Lots of fluid on cardboard right now. I thought I had a leak , so today I checked to raise it , well it went up 3"? So I have concerns. When I looked under trailer had cup of fluid on cardboard. Just bought it . So I will wipe it down and look with a lite. Hard fit under their.

I'm only guessing, but the seals are probably dried out on your cylinder. Take a look while somebody else raises and lowers it.

1977, Will the top go ALL the way up, with a full battery charge? If not, it is probably the cylinder and "Ruben" is right, might need a cylinder repack. Hopefully, it's a line. Just went through a repack myself.

I did the removal and the re-install. Had a local shop (we lucky to have many) re-build the cylinder, including a repaint, test it to 2500 psi (recommended max pressure). 24 hrs later, I had it in my hands and completed the install. Crossed my fingers, hit the up switch and 11 secs later it was up and locked. Double checked the seal alignment. While it was out, I completely lubed every inch of the cables and all the pulleys. Now it's just like new and ready for another 250k cycles! Total cost about $210 including new stainless fittings and 25 ft of clear tube. Just takes a bit of time and of course care and cleanliness.
