1995 22ft Hi-Lo (new to us)

Hello-

We just bought our first Hi-Lo trailer. It is supposedly a two owner trailer and is pristine inside. Couple outside fiberglass cracks on the rear bumper area that I am guessing are because someone used it as a step.

We are going to heavily modify the trailer to mount onto the back of a 5 ton military truck as a motorhome. Hopefully this won't cause us to be considered heretics!

The intent is to pull all of the lower skirting, delete the hitch and the axles, and anything that isn't needed for the move. We will be building a subframe and then with multiple fork lifts put it onto the truck. We will be extending the subframe on the truck bed aprox 4 feet to support the trailer.

We have seen some photos of this done by a gentleman named Bill Caid, so we know it is possible!

Any suggestions or ideas are all welcome (as well as clever criticism)

Thanks,

Dan Ford

Welcome to the group. I don't think anyone will throw stones at ya! Innovation is OK here.

Someone else has done this, and I think it was 3-4 years ago. There were some various postings on his project. Give the search a whirl here. I'll also see if I can find it. Can't recall exactly what he was mounting it on, but same idea as yours.

Good luck, keep us posted and post pictures. Remember, just be sure your Hi-Lo is level before raising or lowering. They aren't happy campers otherwise!

Think I found it....not much info, but pics of the finished product. That was the one I remember. Not sure if the OP is still here, don't remember seeing him lately.
