Started out last spring. Roof leak. Removed tv antenna then pached mount spot on roof, then replaced A/C unit, and redid roof with Liquid Rubber. Went a camp trip. Packing up to come home rt ft cable broke. The end of the cable was rusted out. Didn't know about cable maintenance. Replaced all cables by self. Going back togeather I think I used 10,000 pounds of grease going back together lol. Not going to rust again. Then the power inverter went out. A little bug got into the inverter, shorted and burned it out. Replaced with a self contained external one. The camper didn't look good. the bottom black was a faided black more like gray. Started painting all the black. Looked good but couldn't stop there. Hand brused the White, then the pin stripes, and then the logo. Also replaced carpeting inside. Well the next thing happen. The Hydraulic ram went out. Real fun job to remove and reinstall after I had I rebuil. Also put new electric front hoist and LED lighting all around on the inside and out. Finallly finished till something else brakes.

Ah, Mark - you're showing us how owning a travel trailer is a true life-consuming adventure! But, good on you for fixing everything that broke on yours! I haven't had the troubles you've had, fortunately, but I have certainly had some others, and some of them took a bit of effort to fix.

The thing I've learned though, is that you, yourself can generally fix any problem in the trailer properly, if you just give it a try. I will NOT ever take my trailer to any RV repair place to have a problem corrected. I found, early on, that these places do not do a good job at all and they cost many bucks to do their shoddy work.

My philosophy is, if you can't keep the trailer in running order yourself, then you should not be trailering.

This is a hand me down. My father loved it. I got it from my mother about 6 years ago after he passed away. going to keep it up and let my kids and 12 grandkids use it.
We had some hurricains and with house repairs couldn't focus on camper but were are now.

It pays to be handy. Our HiLOS are our second homes.Iwill take a HiLo any day over a new "garbage RV"" They are made so cheap and expensive. Consider taking out all your windows and lining them with new butyl tape and Lexell caulk on the outside. Wish someone told us to do this as we had mush rebuilding of walls from water damage. Next on the list of repairs is appliance replacement. Most repairs can be referenced on UTUBE. Next on our 1996 is to replace original appliances as they give up. Saw a UTUBE of a RV Transport guy. Brand new unit couldn't even keep the siding on at 65MPH. He had enough sense to slow to 50MPH and the nail holes elongated.

Just got home from 3 day weekend. Last week was fighting the Atwood furnance. Installed new burner and was working fine. Got to the camp and would not work. Tryed to light the stove and nothing happen. Diagnosis the duel tank regulator asm was intermitten and bad. Went to a RV shop, got a new one and installed. Wow now the stove shoots out alot of flame.
So a sudjestion if your stove seems week replace your regulator before you get stuck without heat from your furnace.
Ps the furnance has never put out this much heat also.

PPS had 4 couples come over and talk about how neet my HI-LO looked. Cause I just repainted it, repainted the pinstripes, HI-LO Logo, and the TowLite 24.

Great point, Mark. I too, have had a regulator failure, but it was on a grill. Replaced it and all was fine. A year ago, I thought I had another grill regulator failure, but I could not find a replacement near where I was camping. However, I took my regulator nozzle off (unscrewed with a wrench) and discovered the tiny pinhole outlet was clogged. I used a needle to clear it and everything works fine now.

I have owned two HILOS. Plenty of repairs to keep DH busy. Both HILOS had the regulator replaced as well as the pig tails(black propane hoses). Easier to replace before failure. Cheap insurance. Good on you for keeping your Dad,s HiLo going. Glad you were out able to get out camping. South of us Buffalo NY had two feet of snow. We got none. Schools and business got an extra day off. Been seeing on UTUBE lots of brave souls camping in tents with heaters. Not for the faint of heart.!!
