Default Another new guy

Hi there, Don here from Kankakee IL.
55 yo, auto mechanic for many years, personally into older Chrysler/Dodge vehicles, though I'm mostly stuck fixing Ford's at my job ..
Used to camp more of the summer than not when I was growing up til I was 10 or 12. I miss that.
Didnt get to camp much while raising our son, always had weird work schedules, and never could get common days off with my wife, etc.
Been able to finally get out 3-4 times a year, the last 8 years or so ... Nowhere near as much as I'd like.
We've had apache popups all that time, we're on our 2nd one.
Since returning from out last campout in October of last fall, my wife has been "hell bent" it seems for us to find something different.
We've missed a few that seemed like good deals, they disappeared before we could get there.
I've seen hi Lo's, tow lows, etc as we've been around, usually sitting along someone's house unused.
We go to the same campground in Ohio the same weekend in August, every year/ with several other apache camper owners.
One of our "members" husband died and the wife came the next year with either a tow low, hi Lo, maybe a trail manor. Don't remember. That's the only camper of it's kind we have ever seen the inside of, while set up.
Well in my wife's search for a different unit we have discovered a Hi Lo that we have inquired about in the past few days, are waiting for a response.
That's why I'm here, trying to ID this particular Hi Lo by a few pix in the ad. By the graphics i'm guessing 80s- early 90s, looks like a pretty long camper at that. No size/weight/ model number in the ad. Hopefully my 5.9 magnum powered Durango has enough "***" to pull one. Not worried about Engine power, it's got plenty.

And looking for pros and cons of a hi Lo compared to a conventional style camper.
This one we are considering is set up, (according to the pix seen, ) but is claimed to have broken cables which are supposed to be included in the sale. I've dealt with lift issues on my current apache, but never on any other brand of camper.
I like the idea of pushing 1 button to raise instead of hand cranking to set up.

Default Welcome to the forum

You need to find out the exact model/year. It is either a TowLite or a Heavier Classic. Good that you are a mechanic. It is an eight hour job to change out all four cables. Use the buyers check list to check out your unit. Instructions are ion this forum for changing out the cables. Post often.

I'm trying to find out, just going by the limited pix I have so far, hunting here and places like Google so far for pix to find one that " looks just like it" so I can figure that out.
So far from what I've seen I would have to guess it's between 82-85-ish. The guy hasn't responded yet though so may be for nothing...... It's in Ohio I'm in Illinois. .
I have a buddy of mine who lives like 1/2 hour away from where this one is at that's waiting for me to get a response, if not sold already hea willing to go check it out for me, is pretty knowledgeable about different campers and such.

Welcome to the forum, if you want to post a couple pictures of it here we can help as well. But the guy that owns it should have the title with most the info, if he gets back to you. As well as the ID tag, if it still has it.

They are fun to work on, mostly because some things are not like your typical camper and you have to think outside the box, under the box, behind the box, besides the box.

Good luck, hope you get some info about it soon.

Well, that means another, better one is just around the corner somewhere.

The trip is always as interesting as the destination! (Well, most the time anyway.)

There are a couple of them not terribly far from here I've noticed in people's yards sitting apparently unused for eons. Each about 45 minutes away in opposite directions
