Safety bar covers hydraulic failure, and mine is in good shape as are the cables and rollers. I am more worried about catastrophic cable failure. I realize that this is a very slim chance as cables if taken care of and inspected periodically should not fail.Just a nagging thought in the back of my warped mind.

Hi Treeclimber; If you had a failure of all the cables the safety bar would not keep the top from falling tho I have never read of all cables failing at once. The safety bar only keeps the hydraulic ram from retracting if there was a sudden loss of hyd pressure such as a failure within the Hyd system. It also keeps the top from creeping down due to normal ware over time of the ram piston seals or hydraulic fluid bypassing within the pressure relief valve or the manual lowering valve. JIM

I understand about the hyd failure/safety bar. But the chances of all four cables failing at the exact same time are astronomical. If one broke then another, etc, the top would most likely fall a bit then jam and cock the top. Sorry, just don't see a four cable failure happening. And for that, I can sleep at night in my Hi Lo. Just my 2 cents.
