Hi I am David Johnson and I have lots of questions..
 

I am new to Hi Lo trailers, but not new to RVing and Large powerboats.. I owned an Airstream and grew up on large power boats.

Had to get rid or Airstream due to back problems. I will have lots of questions as I consider what a Hi Lo trailer has to offer.
My 1st question is how well do they hold up over time? Since the Original Company closed down how easy is it to find parts?
What are the biggest strengths and weaknesses of these trailers? I see older models for sale but have yet to see any of the new hi low being sold so I wounder if they are still in business. looking forward to many conversations as I like what I see.

sky, welcome to the Hi Lo forum. Yes, the original company did go out of business, but lots of the older Hi Los are still on the road. The hydraulic system, cables and rim seals are really the only oddball things unique to the Hi Lo. Most everything else can be purchased at a camper supply or on line. Potty, sinks, light fixtures etc are readily available. AND most questions can be answered right here. Many of us have experienced just about everything that can go wrong or improved as well as mods to make life better.

Treeclimber summed up the HiLo well. Many on the forum have had multiple RVS. Many mods and repairs have been done. If you take care of the RV it will take care of you. Do your preventive maintenance. Watch the operational videos. We love to answer questions and help out in any way we can.

David, those videos are located in the Reference Library under Hi Lo Owners Manuals. 1st one. 32 short videos about the systems. Interesting.

David, Im curious what back problems caused you to get rid of Airstream and why switching to Hi-LO might alleviate that. That said, one thing to know about Hi-Los is they tend to be pretty heavy and the axles are set back enough that the tongue weight is pretty significant. Not suggesting you would be trying to lift the trailer just that I, my self, was surprised how much I still had to pay attention to my tow vehicles cargo capacity . I realize Airstream also tend to be heavy.

Hi-Lo did get bought by somebody a few years ago and they attempted to come out with a newer version but it was much more spartan than the originals. Lots of originals around , though, if you like projects.
