Hi Lo or Trailmanor indecision
 

Thanks for the add! I've been following the hi los for a while. But with our family growing I'm wondering if we're kidding ourselves to think we could make it work comfortably. Our towing capacity limits us to a 19t. I've started looking at Trailmanors like the 2720, but hear differing opinions on the brands' quality.
Anyone travel in a 19t with little ones? It's me, husband, 7yo, 4 yo, new baby :)

Hi - I've not owned a Trailmanor, but I've been around them in campgrounds. They are somewhat more complicated to setup and take down when you get to a campsite. I believe they are lighter in weight than a comparably sized HiLo. And, everything I've heard about them tells me they are prone to leaks if it rains. If you look at how they're designed, you can see how they would leak easily.

As I recall, the Trailmanors I've seen do not have a genuine toilet that empties into a black tank. They had a "cassette" style toilet.

While I don't know much about today's Trail Manor. In 2007 we had our RV selection down to Trail manor and Hi Lo. We chose Hi Lo. Primarily because in the set up and take down of the Trail manor, you would have to take down the cupboards and set them on the floor of the trailer. I don't remember how heavy they were, but I imagined anything I put in the cubboards would have to be light and would move around during the uninstall and then eventual set up.

Think about lifting a cupboard or cups, plates and coffee mugs.

We've been satisfied with the Hi-Lo since.

There is probably a Trail Manor forum where you may find other opinions.

Someone i8n our HiLo club used to have a trail manor. They got rid of it because it leaked. One time at an RV show the salesman said he would only demo the Trailmanor if we were serious buyers. So bad that our HiLo dealer won't take one on trade in. I agree with jack's comments. I also think you need some kind of a trailer with bunk beds for the kids. You would be cramped in the HiLo even with the bunk. Storage would be a problem. What is your tow vehicle? Maybe a popup would work for you.

We have a v6 highlander that should have a 5000lb tow capacity. I think we could handle a 22 ft? I've looked at the popout hybrids but they have a lot of issues.

We had a 1999 21T which, with the slide out bench across from the galley and the drop down bunk, would accommodate 4 adults and one child. However, storage room was limited and the back seat of our 2005 Toyota Tundra was always packed to the hilt as we would take 6 weeks or two months trips. My wife and I were the only ones to use the 21T.

I had a 2902bx (2002, 29' hi lo...I sold it to my neighbor and he tows it with v6 Nissan 2wd pickup....you should be able to pull a 27' hi lo

Just for grins I went and looked at the 2001 brochure. The 2601TFB would suit your family well with a queen bed in a front bedroom for privacy, and a table for the two kids with a couch for a portable crib. The unloaded weight is 4,000 lbs, so you would just need to watch how much you load. The 2201 models look like they would work as well, and one of those is closer to 3,000 lbs.
