Howdy all!

Hello everyone! Our family recently picked up a hi-lo camper here in Houston. It's an 89 25L model and is in great shape! We've been in the process of getting to know our camper. All the appliances work and there is minimal repair work to do. Some of the lights work and a couple near the queen beds don't. We also discovered the tail lights are in rather rough shape. I noticed a lot of the contact points inside are broken / dry rotted. I was going to tackle attempting to rebuild these as I image the tail lights are probably hard to find. I read elsewhere in the forum there is a place to get parts. I plan to reach out tomorrow and inquire about complete tail lights. In the time being, I've picked up a set of magnetic trailer lights and will have those in place later this week. I need to extend the wiring a bit as they are only 20 foot but these should at least allow me to drag it around with functioning tail lights.

Is there anyone here from Texas that is familiar with the inspection process? I was doing some reading and I believe this model would be exempt from inspection due to weight. Can someone confirm that?

In the future, I also want to set up some solar panels and enhance the lighting with new fixtures and some additional LED lights.

Looking forward to meeting some fellow hi-lo owners and hearing about their ideas and adventures.

Welcome to the forum

I know their is a HiLo club in Texas. You could possibly convert your exterior tail lights to LED. Perhaps someone will be kind enough to post a source for you. I have a 1990 25ft. Classic and have done extensive repairs/rebuild. Ask any questions you may have and our great forum members will answer them for you. Love the older sturdy rigs.
