Good morning ,
I am the proud owner of a 1975x 21' trailer.
It is a complete remodeling project and I am excited to get started right now my number one goal is to get it lowered her storage I can't seem to get it down there's no blockage and I released the hydraulic pressure but it still won't lower .
From my limited searches my next area to investigate will be some type of safety lock wish me luck

Thanks, found it on craigslist at a local trailer park. The MGMT company had taken title in lieue of payments.
They had started to demo it for remodel, then changed their mind. It is 90% gutted but the shell is really solid and trailer rails and running gearlook good.

BTW just found the safety bar and released, now it is lowering, slowly.

Let the fun begin!!!!

It SHOULD lower with the Up/Down switch in the "down" position, as long as the master switch is in the correct position (normally pressed in at the bottom). These switches should be next to the safety bar lanyard you pulled.

Thanks all I got the top lowered. nothing is connected to the mechanism or the safety bar so I raised the top braced it and then manually lifted the safety bar and lower the top took a lot of jockey back-and-forth but got her done!

Scott, that should be fun to re-do! Love those Baby-moon hub caps too!

Still at the steep part of the learning curve!

I've never dealt that vintage of a Hi Lo so I'm not sure, however I think the top may go lower still. Unless something is preventing it, I think the top settles on the those outriggers toward the rear and the "A" frame in front. I'm sure there is somebody wiser than I who could confirm that. Are you still able to get inside to look? :confused:

You are correct it did lower and rest on frame.
When I took the picture it was bleeding out residual hydrolic fluid.
I can get in side while fully lowered

Your unit just looks like it would be fun to camp AND restore! Hope you have fun doing both. Any questions, just ask and the kind people will help you best they can. :D :D

Several of the forum members have trailers of your vintage. They will be able to answer any of your questions. Do a search for older HiLos. Best of luck as you do your restoration.

Well time for a long over due update.
I had to let her sit for quite some time, while I cleared out other projects.
I found a very nice replacement for the lifting power. A Hydraulic Power unit from Northern tool with remote control. Works awesome, but i think I will install a proportioning valve to slow the rate of accent and decent.
I just have it temp set up for now.

After I got her going up and down, I started with some cosmetics. Picked a nice retro sky blue and ivory combo. I also stripped and sprayed bed liner on all the exposed frame.

Completing the interior gutting now. Over all not too bad, some sub floor is rotten and must be cut out and a little water damage on the vent area, not too bad.

Need to decide on insulation, thinking rigid foam for roof,and fiberglass for side, may add radiant barrier over the whole thing in addition.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Love your exterior paint job. Blue happens to be my favorite color. I would stick with rigid foam panels for insulation in your walls. That is how our 1990 Classic was put together. If the fiberglass would get wet you would have a soggy mess. Can't wait to see your new interior.

What kind of radiant barrier are you thinking about using? I was debating the same thing

Reflectix HVST48050 R4.2/R6/R8 HVAC Indoor Double Reflective Duct Insulation 48" x 50 Ft or 60" X 125'

Something like this, 2 sided, bubble wrap. Can get it at home depot or lowes as well. Offers some r value and reduced air infiltration as well. West side wholesale on line has better pricing and bigger rolls.

Wow the paint job looks great. Nice motor for lifting the top. You must be very talented to be able to do all that yourself. Congrats. I'm new here as well just starting to absorb info. Yes it will be quite the learning curve for me anyway.
