New Member - 1995 22' towlite Hi Lo
 

Can anyone tell me how much the above trailer weighs, I don't have any manuals and am about to purchase this trailer. The seller is telling me that it weighs 2250 lbs (dry weight) is that correct trying to find info on line but not much out there? Most of the 22' that I have seen are around 3300lbs.

Go to the Hi-Lo website and download the brochure for your year model. Also, there is a decal on the forward left side of the trailer with all of the info.

Our 1997 22ft Towlite weight empty is around 2,760 lbs, GVWR of 3,500, and when it is loaded, it is about 3,000 lbs.

I don't know where you got these weights from, if it was from the internet, this information was wrong and it was given to them by HI-LO. I know this because I complained. When we bought our 1995 21ft Tow-Lite the internet gave a weight and I bought it thinking it was lighter, after the sale I asked the sales person at the dealer if they had the weight, looked it up in their RV book and with air conditioner, spare tire, and bunk bed, theses were options, no water in any tanks, their book said just under 3400 lbs. I then took the trailer to a scale and had it weighted and it was exactly 3400 lbs. Construction in those years for the Tow-Lite in that size range was all the same. The Classic models are even heavier, due to better construction. That 3,400 lbs. weight was with 2- 20 lb gas tanks, both empty.

I am thinking about buying a 1995 21' Tow Lite. Can you recommend any items I should look out for especially items that do not wear well?

Tires for one Jason. Become familiar with reading the date coade stamped on the tires (Google tire date code). Inspect the cables and hydraulic system underneath the trailer for fraying, corrosion, or wear. These items last almost forever if maintained. Check the roof top for cracks in the sealant or covers. Then inspect the ceiling inside the trailer for water intrusion. Look very closely. Make sure the appliances all work, including the fridge. If the fridge has been sitting for several years with no use, the cooling unit could be plugged.

ghopson and Jasonabe2001,Welcome to the forum. We love questions,so ask and we will answer for you. Jasonabe2001 be sure to check for delamination in the walls. Press on the walls inside and outside. Check the shower walls real good. See if any of the walls are soft. Where are you both from?

This is pretty much a prebuy checklist but it should help you out. My VIN and model # were on a decal that was on the forward L/H side which is now black because of the sun. You can look for a VIN stamped on the tongue or sometimes it is inside one of the cabinets. Hi-Lo's are measured from rear bumper to tip of the tongue. Hope this helps you out.

Basically, start with the visual items –
1. Exterior
• Look for water stains and discoloration on inside walls and around ceiling anywhere vents, skylights, windows, etc. exist.
• Push and prod with your hand on the inside walls for soft spots (which could indicate a water leak and a damaged or rotten interior wall).
• Check for bubbles in the wallpaper (a sign of delimitation or water intrusion)
2. Interior cleanliness of the unit-

4. Lift System-
• Does the unit raise and lower properly
• Check the lift system for hydraulic leaks (puddle under the trailer)
• Check the lift cables to see if they are in good shape and not frayed
• Check the seal between the upper and lower body halves for tears or damage
5. fill the tanks to the top and check for leaks

7. Solar Panel (if equipped)
