New owners!

Hello everyone my wife and I just recently purchased a 1993 Highlow and are enjoying it quite a bit already. We've already been to Lukenbach Texas a few times and have enjoyed ourselves a great deal. I learned a lot by looking at the forum and I wanted to ask one question while I'm here in my intro. When it comes to replacing the tank monitoring display can we choose a different brand or does it need to be the exact same thing ? I attached an image of our current one and was curious if we can upgrade or should I get the same thing

Ha! I know where Brackettville is! I drove through there quite a few times when I was stationed at Laughlin AFB in Del Rio on trips to San Antonio. That was back in the 60s. I bet I wouldn't recognize anything now.

Welcome to the HiLo family!

Regarding your tank monitors, I believe there is a replacement brand that uses slightly different probes (you can just replace the probes if the internal panel is ok) and these probes are designed to resist false readings a lot better. It's what I'd use if mine went bad. Do an internet search for "RV Holding Tank Probes" and I think you'll find them.

Edit: To save you time, I found them: https://www.rvprobes.com/howitworks.html

But, there's also a completely different kind of sensor that's basically a strip that you run vertically on the outside of each tank. The panel inside then gives you a true percentage fill reading of each tank. It looks to be a bit of hard work to install to me, but you could also use that.

Thank you for the reply sir. Actually the monitor that I want to change is the one inside the RV that you push the button and it tells you what level your tanks are at and it has a white water pump switch. I wasn't sure if I needed to replace it with the exact same model or if I can pick around and choose something different. I guess my interest comes from wondering if all the wiring on alternative models will work with the wiring in my RV

I suspect your monitor is wired the same as the newer version that is white with the pump switch at the bottom. I doubt it's any better than the one you have.
