Default A question about new forum membership.

Can anyone tell me what the membership process is now since it was revised to block spammers? I had a Junior Member PM me that is having trouble starting a new thread here. He stated that he did not get an email for membership verification. I can't find any reference to this on the Forum.

Thanks!
Rich

Rich,

I think that new members just need to type in a series of numbers and letters that show up as part of becoming a forum member. I do not believe that there is an email for membership verification.

Rich, I just signed up a few days ago and had a small issue with the the email. It told me that my hotmail email was blocked or rejected by the administrator so I had to use my gmail. Haven't tried go start a new thread yet so not sure about that. I must say that the "captcha" prompt was a little difficult from my android device but I figured it out. I just picked up my HiLo today, turns out it is a 1976 not a '70. Any way I change just my username?

You bring up a couple of big question marks in my mind. I think if I can get this through to the site administrator you questions my be answered. I have not been able to come up with any good information on new memberships and procedures here.

Default Registration

This topic is listed under FAQ but it appears some are having some difficulty with their registrations and getting verification email.

"The administrator will probably require you to register in order to use all the features of the forum. Being registered gives you an identity on the board, a fixed username on all messages you post and an online public profile.

Registration is free (unless otherwise specified), and offers an extended range of features, including:

Posting new threads
Replying to other peoples' threads
Editing your posts
Receiving email notification of replies to posts and threads you specify
Sending private messages to other members
Creating albums of pictures and comment on others' pictures
Adding events to the forum calendar
Setting up a 'contact list' to quickly see which of your friends are online.

How do I register?

You register by clicking on the 'Register' link near the top of the page. You will be asked to choose a user name, password and enter a valid email address. In addition there will be some other fields to which you will be invited to respond. Some will be mandatory while others are optional. Once this is complete you will either be fully registered, or in some cases you may have to click on a link in an 'activation email' sent to your email address. Once you have done this you will be registered.

Note that entering your email address will not leave you open to 'spam', as you can choose to hide it from other board users. You'll probably be able to allow other registered users to contact you via email, but the system won't display your email address to them unless you give permission.

If you are under the age of 13, the administrator may require that a parent or guardian provide consent before allowing you to complete the registration process. More information about this is available during the registration process."

Default Inquiry

I sent an inquiry to the administrator requesting answers to our questions. Hopefully we will get straightened out.

Default Another New Member - Hello from St. Louis

There have been a couple new members that have not been able to post to the threads but could PM me about their problem. One mentioned that he/she did not receive the verification email that apparently must be replied to for the membership process to complete.

Default Thanks for the welcome. . .

Thanks for the welcome. . . and for hosting/working on this forum. I believe I joined about a month ago, but travel for work (not pleasure) has been most consuming. Thankfully that is now slowing down, the weather is starting to turn warmer, and hopefully we'll get to try out our new (to us) Hi-Lo. I've always admired them going down the road -- loved the collapsible design ('cause it seems like it made all the sense in the world) and the tow home from where we purchased it seemed to confirm that -- tows like a dream thus far. Ours has a few issues that need to be addressed and I'm sad to see that the company closed its doors, however this forum has provided some very necessary reassurance that help and friendly advice is indeed available. Whew! As we're new to all this, I can't tell you what a relief that is!

Thanks, Sam -- actually, I think that was another new member that may have had some computer issues. Everything has been slick as a whistle as far as I'm concerned! But I do have some "Hi-Lo" issues I'll have to write-up and ask some questions about -- for now I've been searching threads for answers to see if some of my questions have been answered already elsewhere (and indeed some have). Great resource, seems like great folks. Thanks again!

Default New to you HiLo

I was going to suggest to you that you look over back posts now that you aren't quite so busy at work. My HiLo folder is quite thick with helpful posts that I have printed out. A good insurance policy that hopefully I won't need!!
