What size garage do I need for a 22' Hi-Lo?

We are looking at buying a Hi-Lo, but are not use what length will fit into our garage. Is there a general rule of thumb to go by?

Welcome, and hope you find the perfect Hi-Lo!

Based on my experience, you probably need a 24 foot garage, but don't take my word for it!! Make sure you measure both garage and the Hi-Lo you find. Our Hi-Lo is officially 28', but from hitch to back bumper is actually 29'.

Good luck!

Variables exist

Do you want to store the HiLo in the down position? Do you want to be able to raise it up to work on it or do rountine maintenance? Do you have a straight shot at backing it in?

Welcome to the forum! Hi-Lo's are measured from rear bumper to the tip of the tongue. A 22' trailer will probably measure an inch or two below 22'. Count on about 8' for the width.

Yes, 8' is the nominal width of the trailer, but unless you have a powered trailer dolly, it's going to be difficult to back it in to any opening less than 10' wide. My trailer shelter is 12' wide, and I have a straight shot into it from in front. If you have to turn the trailer as it's being backed in, wider is better.

Add another 12" for the spare tire. Look up the brochure collection in the forum library. Find your year and then you model in the brochure where you will find the length.

We plan to store it down. Our drive is very straight leading into the garage. However, it is on an incline.

100 inches

We have a 2208T with a removable hitch. The garage is 100 inches wide and we have approx 2-3 inches on each side. We also have to use a powercaster elec dolly.
Not sure on the depth, but we back the spare tire all the way to the wall and then we have approx 2 inches. Can measure depth this evening.

here's the video.

Thanks the vidio was very helpful.
Did your Hi-lo come with the removable hitch?

The other issue is height. Check available height carefully. We had this problem and had to do some adapting door opening.

When the minimal hight is given on the original Brochures Is that including the air unit?
