H & T and J.R. Enterprise are one and the same. If your local dealer does not have the parts you need you can get them from J.R. and they send them fast in most cases you will get them within 3 days.

H & t is a old name It stands for Hi-Lo and Towlite That was the name of the parts store When Hi-Lo ran it them self.

Neal and Bev 03-22-2010 03:29 PM

Due to recent events, J.R. Enterprises is no longer selling Hi-Lo parts.

As of 4/1/2010 you will be able to order them direct from the Hi-Lo co.

Look here for contact information.

J&R

The owner of J&R (Greg Stanley) died but his son-in-law has been able to reopen the business,. with Greg's former employee. Web site is JR REPAIR and email is jrrepair@centurylink.net They are open and trying to supply parts and do repairs for Hi-Lo owners (and repairs to any brand.) If you need parts, give them a try.

Factory Hi-Lo Parts

As of March 2, 2012, I verified that the source for factory Hi-Lo Parts is:

hiloparts@gmail.com
Phone no. is 419 886-0008 Mon.-Fri, 8:30-4:30 "Joel"

Apparently the history is: JR got in money trouble and had to sell out. He sold to Greg Stanley who died. Now Joel has the parts business.

Not to dispute your post, but where did you get this information. Greg Stanley died about a year and a half ago, but the business reopened a short while later.

Lloydinmd,

Joel's company is a competing business with J & R. J & R still sells HiLo parts. When the HiLo factory auctioned off their equipment and inventory, J & R bought a majority of the parts. I will be seeing Jim & Rob day after tomorrow when I take my trailer down to them for some work. I will get a correct response to your statement from them and post it here on the forum.

Bob

robobd 03-04-2012 08:05 AM

J & R (Jim & Rob) have been in business for more than 12 years, and jim worked for hi-lo (In there current location in butler ohio) since 1966 and rob is the son-in-law of one of the original owners. they did all the warantee(goof up)work on new hi-lo's and did and still do repairs and rebuilds on all travel trailers. they do not bad-mouth their competitors, as their work will speak for itself,as time has told this story before, and their help to all that ask go's without saying. I am a happy j&r previous and current customer

retiredcamper47 03-05-2012 06:16 PM

Took my HiLo to J & R today to have some work done prior to camping season. Had a nice visit with Jim & Rob. YES, J & R is still alive and well doing business. They do sell HiLo parts and repair HiLo trailers and other brands. They are still at the same location - 145 W Elm St, Butler, Ohio 44822, and their phone number is the same - 419-883-3001. Give them a call, they are glad to talk to their customers. Hope this clears up some confusion from a previous post.

Bob

RichR 03-05-2012 06:32 PM

Thanks for the report. I'm glad to hear they are doing fine. Their building is where the original HiLo factory was. The last HiLo building was built to make Towlite trailers, then eventually everything moved in there. I guess there is a bit of a story that goes along with that. (Trivia for today.) ;)

Ditto Bob's post, except I didn't travel to J & R. But I did have a nice phone visit with Rob, and we both had a good chuckle over the report of J & R Enterprise's demise. Tweaking a famous Mark Twain quote: "Reports of their closure have been greatly exaggerated!"

Go team J & R!! :)

Maybe the other place wishes that JR Repair was closed.

New non-telescoping trailer from Hi-Lo!

Someone in another thread reported that they had heard some of the old Hi-Lo folks were developing a new trailer. So just out of curiosity, I typed in the old www.hilotrailer.com web address to see if there had been any changes. Much to my surprise I discovered (although I may be the last member of HTF to know this) that not only have they begun offering a new line of trailers, named "Midget," but also that they are refurbishing Hi-Lo Trailers and have two for sale.

In photos on the site, the "Midget," really looks pretty cute, and I like the A/C setup. Personally it would be too small for our current needs, but I can see the appeal for campers who have light duty tow vehicles.

The two rebuilt Hi-Lo's they have also look very clean (price isn't bad either).

Brought my trailer home last night from J&R in Butler. Jim & Rob performed their magic on my rig and now it is better than new. These guys are fantastic at what they do. I am all set for the camping season now with the exception of my wife's "honey-do" project. I have pulled out the carpeting in the front lounge section and will be installing Allure Oak Plank Flooring throughtout the trailer. The only carpet will be in the rear bedroom. The flooring is a floating floor. The planks adhere to each other and come close to the color of the interior woodwork. I got it at Home Depot.

Hi Bob,

I really like your flooring idea. Please post some photos after you finish.

Midget trailer

JMDoering,Thanks for the heads up on the Midget and the refurbished HiLos. It is very cute for a small family.

Flooring

Retired camper 47,,ve read in another camping forum where the Allure flooring has been used. It was easy to install and looks great. Have fun with your honeydo project.

Hey Jim, this is weird. I just took a look at the web site and all the pages
look just like the pages I looked at with J&R several weeks ago, and now
the J&R site doesn't have a catalog page.

Hi Richard,

Actually, I don't go to either the J & R or Hi-Lo sites very often. After your post I checked them out, and unless I missed something between visits, both sites seem about the same as the last time I was there (except for the changes regarding the Midget). I don't remember J & R ever having parts listed, and the Hi-Lo site has always had parts listed. The J & R site seems to have been under construction since the day it started!

I'll stand corrected if a frequent visitor wants to enlighten me about recent changes to the two sites. :)

I know the original post is from 2 years ago but the inside of the Midget is laid out exactly like my Hilo Mojo (except no bathroom like the 16' one has). Same interior colors as well. If they used the same dinette cushions, they bottom out when you sleep on them (foam is not all that dense) so you would need a pad.

Additions to sleeping cushions

Many of us have had to add memory foam topers, air matresses to compensate for uncomfortable sleeping cushions ect. Some back posts are to be found on this subject.

Best way to contact?

I tried to contact J&R several days ago using their online contact form as I want to order some new straps for the tip-out but got no response. What is the best way to contact them - phone?

RichR 03-15-2015 04:17 PM

I would try the phone. They aren't big on computers.

Luckydog671 03-15-2015 05:21 PM

Thanks, Rich. I'll give that a try.

sam 03-15-2015 10:23 PM

contacting JR

If you want HiLo parts shipped to you contact Jay Simon in parts at Mantelli trailer sales. 716-625-8877 or Jay@mantelli.com He will ship the parts out to you the same day you call.

RCREYES 03-16-2015 11:22 AM

I ordered the same straps and had them reprint my VIN decals using the online form and didn't have a problem with it.

JIM L 03-16-2015 07:24 PM

Ruben; Who did you order from, J&R or Mantelli? The VIN decal you are talking about, is it the one that is mounted on the outside? Mine is almost unreadable.

misfit429 03-17-2015 09:38 AM

I called JR and left a message. It took a while for them to get back to me but they did call back. I think they are a small group and stay very busy as they do great work. Patience is a virtue when dealing with JR.

Norton Rider 03-17-2015 12:35 PM

I ordered the straps from this outfit: Midget RV & Trailer Service HiLo Specialist - Home.

Jim,
I ordered from JR. Yes, the VIN decal on the street side. Mine was getting spotted and then it finally turned completed black. Somehow, it reappeared. I took a picture of it and sent it to JR and had them print out four of them. I replaced the one in the original location, placed one by the entry door, one on the inside of the tongue away from any sunlight, and one on the wall under the sink inside.

Thanks, Raul! I just ordered 6 straps on the Midget website as mine are looking a bit ragged and I want to double up on the straps, plus have a spare set.

I did the same: I doubled up on the straps.

Ruben; Thanks for the reply. I think the reason these VIN decals turn black is that they have a clear piece of protective tape over them that should be removed after the decal has been applied. I was able to remove some of this tape with a razor scraper and was able to read some of the info under it. I have also metal stamped the entire VIN # on top of the tounge where HiLo had only stamped part of the number. Have read on here where some owners have had problems selling their HiLos when they could not verify the VIN.

I like that stamping idea. Hopefully, with the placement of four decals, at least one will always be visible on my trailer.

Refrigerator vent

I need to order a refrigerator vent for the lower part of my 17T. It was politely removed by the upper unit when raising it in MD. One of the bottom clips fell out and the vent was loose. So I need the clips to secure it to the unit too. I want to replace it before I sell it.

Thanks
Mike

RichR 08-04-2015 07:35 AM

That is probably a generic part that is used on many units. Try checking with any major RV parts supplier, that should show up in their catalogs.

RichR 08-04-2015 02:36 PM

Try this, check the size, but I think it is what you need.

Treeclimber 08-04-2015 04:30 PM

It's truly amazing what they sell on Amazon!! I just changed out the cruise control/wiper/washer and headlight lever on my Caddy TV. They have almost every part I've wanted for the Treehouse, even the 14 X 14 A/C seal for a lot less than the "camping place". If you nothing to do just go on the site and put in "RV accessories". the list goes on and on, interior AND exterior!
