We picked up a 93 18TD from a coworker, price was right and we enjoy tinkering. It needs quite a bit of work but we think it'll be worth it in the end.

Well this thread was an unexpected godsend, restoring a 18' towlite and have the exact same issue. Good to know my "fix" idea has been tried by someone else and worked lol.
